Impossible? I 1CC'ed that race, getting 5 mil points is getting to stage 3, its most assuredly not impossible:
First off, clear the first stage perfectly. You shouldn't be breaking at all, you should enter stage 2 with around 75-80 seconds on the clock if your good. You can take the tighter left, then right turns at the end of stage 1 at full speed if you preempt the turns (admitedly that takes a bit of practice but I've played the game so many times I know the course like the back of my hand).
Now stage 2 - you have two choices. Left or right. Left gives you a course with giant death walls for almost the entire race while right gives you a relatively clear left hand side so for most of the race its more lenient (though do watch out for the last stretch with the narrow walled road. I vastly prefer going right as its just an easier time in general and I can then move onto stage 3 with a good 70+ seconds left on the clock. And at that point you should basically be at 5mil no matter what.
But as for what feels like the easiest set of courses - I go Right, Left, Left, Left to end up at ending 2.
Now in terms of the best way to reduce speed - breaking is the obvious way but rarely the best choice. Letting your finger off the gas for a brief moment is better for those gentler corners that require you to slow down slightly, or tap the breaks for just a brief moment. But if you have a sharper corner its actually better to shift down first, then break a bit, then start accelerating and shift back up. Shifting down then up again quickly has the advantage of dropping your speed just enough, then getting it back pretty quick AND gives you more traction on tighter corners so you don't slide off the course. I've gotten into the habit of shifting down as a method of quickly reducing speed and it just works that much better for me clearing each ending.
But by far 99% of the issue you'll have is the AI drivers. The very worst case scenario is the dreaded "all lanes gridlocked" with no way to pass. In these instances, and just heavier traffic situations in general you'll want to slow down and be careful, passing when safe. Doing this too much will mean you wont clear the game, but you dont need to do that, you just need to get to stage 3 or so. Its far better to lose a couple of seconds slowing down, then passing on a straight than it is trying to pass on a sharp dangerous corner with several cars in your way as you'll lose a shit ton of time to a crash (I think you can come back from 1 crash, but crash twice and your not finishing the game).
Assuming you can go into stage 2 with a good 70+ seconds on the clock you can comfortably clear stage 2, and have a pretty decent amount of time to get through all (or at least almost all of) stage 3, so you should sail past the Electronic King's score.
